I enter several contest monthly. The most important thing I can tell you is be careful of the ones that want money with promises of big prizes.
With that being said, here are some links for you to consider that works for me:
www.storywrite.com - This is a good place for no cost writing contest that will challenge you on a lot of levels. I have won several first and second prizes. By prizes I mean you get a Bronze, Gold, or Silver trophy icon ;-) I like these contest because they help me sharping my skills for the big dog ones.
http://www.filmmakers.com/contests/short/ - This one you'll have to pay. You'll be pitted against some big players that are good writers.
http://www.scriptsavvy.net/ContestDetails.html - Again these are pay contest that are held monthly. You'll be pitted against some big players that are good writers.
Hope this list will help you get started and see what's out there. I recommend trying the first one Story Write to cut your teeth on, then when you think you got "the write stuff" go for the others.
