Best suggestion I can come up with is calling it a Zero Fighter plane. Just make it clear when you first mention it that you're talking about a fighter plane then they should understand the Zero reference from then on. Hope this helps.

I got a low score on a submission because somebody didn't know what a Zero was. I was referencing a WWII Japanese fighter plane. For a comparison, I was going to use F-16s, Tom Cruise, and Top Gun. Would that work or is that reference too dated also? If so, what would be the present day equivalent?
