Herbicides are pesticides.

What about herbicide and pesticide? Who ever killed one weed?

Much as I admire Monbiot, I have to say that he doesn't always get things right. There's nothing about the suffix '-cide' which signifies *mass* killing. Deicide, infanticide, matricide... usually represent the killing of usually just one god, child or mother respectively Suicide almost never involves the killing of multiple selves. Even 'genocide', which Monbiot presumably had in mind as a template, can involve the killing of just one person if that person happens to be the last of his or her race.
Oh, and 'hi' to all.

Don't know anything about ephebicide but just wanted to say hello to you Housedad. Things have slowed down a bit around WeBook and I'm getting lonely.

Ephebicide is the wanton mass slaughter of the young by the old. ... Creation of the word claimed by George Monbiot of the Guardian Newspaper (UK).
