My mother was an Anglo-American Catholic from New Jersey, my father, a Moslem from Iran.  I was born in Lowell, MA and I  lived in Iran for 16 years.
I have been a bookstore owner, ESL teacher, university program director, business manager, and writer. I currently teach writing at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.  I live with my husband and our cat, Pixie, on the Big Island of Hawaii.
