In short

  • In 1972 I made a 5-mile long rubberband chain with my best friend who, later in life, ended up being involuntarily committed 9 times.

in 2006 I wrote the top rated comedy in the Baltimore Screenwriter's Competition.  (Anybody know a screen agent?).

I've been at Belmont Park to personally witness the last three Triple Crown winners: Secretariat in '73, Slew in '77 and Affirmed in '78.

I also grill a REALLY good burger.

My Favorites: Reading and Writing

  • ZAMM (see "Favorite Authors," above).  I also liked Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon.  I have a weakness for nonfiction travelogues.
  • Toujours Provence by Peter Mayle
  • During work hours, at my desk, while I am on the clock.  Can't beat it for the psychological satisfaction.
  • I can't choose anybody too cool, because then I'd get pissed that I had to return to my own life 24 hours later.  And I can't choose anybody who sucks.   I guess I'd choose Joe Dimaggio during the Marilyn Monroe years, presuming that he qualifies as a "character" (it doesn't say LITERARY character).
  • Robert Pirsig.  OK, I know he's only written two books and that I am waaaay too dumb to understand the second one, but -- jeez -- that first one (Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance) is a masterpiece.  I re-read it every year.
