In short

  • I'm an avid moviegoer.  Surely I will one day write a novel about that obsession.  My first novel THE PROSPECT OF MY ARRIVAL made it to the Top 3 in the 2008 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards.  I live in Chicago.  My new novel in progress is called THE HOPE STORE.  In the Strongest Start Novel Contest, the book advanced to the Top 6 out of 400 for lit fiction.  My Page One just advanced here to the next stage.  Thanks!   My site is:  dwightland.homestead.com

  • In my 20s, I was on the cover of the Kellogg's Cornflakes box dressed as a chef!

My Favorites: Reading and Writing

  • Fiction: Gay/Lesbian, Literary, Multicultural, Sci Fi/Fantasy, Thriller/Suspense

  • I enjoyed Never Let Me Go by Ishiguro (though I think I'll like the movie even better!), Margaret Atwood, Chuck Palahniuk.  Loved Curious Incident of the Dog by Mark Haddon, The Boy Detective Fails by Joe Meno.  Want to read work by Aimee Bender.  Enjoyed Generosity by Richard Powers.  Loved Devli in the White City.  Up in the Air by Walter Kirn.  The Hours by Michael Cunningham.  Crossing by Andrew Fukuda.
