I have been writing all my life. Travel stories, technical articles, user manuals (yep...), and fiction. Wrote my first publicised short story when I was 13. It was about a vampire (this was looong before vampires became hip). And I had it publicised in a horror comic in Finland. I had a letter sent home to me by the editor telling me I was supposed to write without adult help... It hurt. I soo wish I had had anyone interested enough to help me.
