In short

  • I am finally finishing up my history degree at Arizona State University. I obtained a business degree some years ago, but my true passion lies in historical understanding.
The most misunderstood thing about history is that it is static. Far from it, history changes often. The more we research, the more we know about the people of the past, and the more our conclusions change. More importantly, however, the more history changes, the more the future is shaped. Our understanding of the past changes the way we consider the future, and hence alters our course of action.
Never let someone take your history away.

  • In my heyday, when I was a young lad of about 23 or so i played in a band in Maryland called Critical Mass. We had the wonderful pleasure (or perhaps dubious distinction) of being the opening act for some really high-profile artists: Blue Oyster Cult; Twisted Sister; Motorhead, among others. While this may not exactly be something to squeal about today, it was certainly fun, and I would do it all again, given the choice. Even the over-indulgences in alcohol and other questionable substances. In fact, it was the indulgence that built the character, not the actual performances.
