We all have reasons for writing. That’s why we’re here. While our motivations are as varied and unique as we are, the underlying driving force is the same. We write because we are writers.
I grew up in a small town in Western Colorado. The family life was bad and I was an introvert, so I read. I read anything that I could get my hands on that would hold my interest. I read to escape the mundane life I was living. In a book I could lose myself and become the character that traveled across galaxies or searched for lost treasure. In a book I could be smart and popular, or dark and mysterious, or whatever the character led me to be. Books, and the stories they told, were a major part of not only how I survived, but who I became.
Naturally, I write to offer the same escape to readers that those authors before me offered. I have such tremendous ideas that just need the perfect story to make them real. That is why I’m here, to perfect my talents and to find my audience. I’m looking for that one honest reader that will tell me that he got lost in my story. When that happens, I will be a writer.
- Has yet to happen, but when it does, I'll be too busy to update this, so... maybe it has happened.
