In short

  • I have a B.A. in video production and a B.A. in English from Michigan State University, where I mentored under poet Diane Wakoski. After receiving my Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language from Bowling Green State University, I began teaching writing and other language-learning skills at the college level. With the birth of my two boys, I started writing for children of all ages. I eventually found my most comfortable voice was that of a teen girl. After completing my first YA novel, I am currently working on my second.

  • My work has appeared in ONCE UPON A TIME as well as SPIDER magazine. My short story, “The Fog Bell,” placed 5th for the Children’s Division in the 2007 Writer’s Digest annual fiction contest, and most recently, I co-wrote a picture book, THE CLUBHOUSE CONUNDRUM, for the local chapter of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I am currently working on another work-for-hire picture book project about Mackinac Island in Northern Michigan.
