In short
-
I am a 56 year old single woman. I have a BA in Human Services, minors in Comparative Religion and Women's Studies and a Masters in Adult Education. I worked with adolescents for a while, was a drug and alcohol counselor and then ran the county detox for 5 years. I am now disabled from fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which led to depression, then panic attacks. So, I don't work anymore.
I have a 40 year old son, Eric, a 19 year old granddaughter, Ashley, that graduated from high school last year, an 18 year old grandson, Kyler, who graduated form high school this year, a 5 year old grandson, Eli and a 2 year old granddaughter, Jovi.
I'm scared shitless I won't finish my novel, "The Other Realm". I know it's a good storyline, good characters, etc., it is just that I have a big problem finishing anything. Took me 7 years to get my BA at age 37!
I had a drug addiction to opiates, including heroin. I have been clean since 1987. You can read about that in my submission "Heroin Hell".
I just got a Sheltie Collie puppy I named Solomon Obama. You can see where my politics are.
I love reading, the ocean, decorating, watercoloring, camping and hiking if I am up to it. I love to travel, but haven't been financially able to recently. I just bought a 1990 red Sunbird with a white convertible top. I love convertibles, this is the fourth one I've owned in my life. My favorite was my MGB, but I blew the engine running it without oil. Won't make that mistake again. Now that I have a car, I will be able to drive to the coast and visit the ocean, which always grounds me. - I raised a son who has become a man with more integrity than any man I've ever met. Oh, and I don't dye my hair. I have great non-graying genes!

So many books! But, after some thought-"A Wrinkle In Time" by Madeline d"Engle. That is the first book of its kind I had ever read, by age 11.
"Mists of Avalon" & all Darkover novels. Dennis Lehane's early mysteries, Terry Brook's Armageddon's Children" trilogy, Nora Robert's paranormal romance trilogies. Most anything realistic with a psychic or magic twist. -
Recently read a trilogy, "Armageddon's Children" by Terry Brooks usually not that much of a fan, but well worth the read. (Even if you don't like Terry Brooks or fantasy). Also a prequel trilogy.
New: "Prospero,s Chidren", "The Last Oracle". -
On my couch, in my bed, at the beach or anywhere in the sun. Also, anywhere I can read-bus, doctor's office, etc.

Wrote poetry since teens, but all but about 7 were burnt in a house fire. I have about 18 notebooks of journals-most with art work & writing-I'm leaving for my oldest granddaughter. Maybe she can learn from my mistakes.
I have several short stories, too. They just need to be entered into the computer from hard copy. -
