I've loved writing ever since I was very young.
My first story, about a stoat named Stanley was a fairly epic 250 page novel, which started my love for writing at an age of 10. The story was based on an Earth-like world where the dominant species on the planet had been wiped out, leaving the animals of the planet the evolutionary chance to develop into intelligent humanoid beings. Stanley was a normal Stoat (who lived on the island of Exodan), leading a normal life until he was swept into events which forced him to show the true hero inside. Stanley was to become the protector of Exodan and the political and public figure of resistance to the terrorists that plagued his country. Unbeknown to the Exodanise government, Stanley is not content to be only a figurehead and when a new terrorist rises Stanley is at the forefront of the ensuing chaos, much to the dissatisfaction of the politicians who want him to stay out of the way; remaining as a public figure and nothing more.
Since then I've dipped in and out of short stories and books and I've many ideas up my sleeve, it's just getting the time to get them all onto paper!
My first major story since I grew out of Stanley the Stoat was 'Immortal Sin'. This is still a work in progress and I plan for it to be a two book novel with more spin-off stories planned. I've always been intrigued by religious mythology and have longed for some time to re-invent the 'sissy' view of angels and redepict them as faithful servents and fearless warriors as well as showing the dark side of these fanatical beings. It was, after all, an angel who began the rebellion in Heaven and the fall from God's grace.
Another couple of pieces I'm working on at the moment (although they are not nearly as long as Immortal Sin) include 'Cain and Abel'; a story of a teenage boy who one day experiences a traumatic event and is guided by a bizarre apparition: a talking pig named Cain. Cain helps the boy through the difficult times in his life but the hard question remains: who, or what is Cain and what are his motives?
Moving on from the mythology and unusual themes of the previous two books, my third is a work in progress which I have created in episodes, as though it's intended for TV. 'What's Your Pleasure?' is a book about the lives of the people and punters who spend their time in a back street English brothel run by the stroppy and arrogant 'lady of the house', Annie. It is intended to be a comical view of a dark and fiercly debated subject with elements of a drama.
I also have a number of short stories planned which I intend to put together into a single book and at some point I would dearly love to reinvent the old adventures of Stanley Stoat in a more adult version of my teenage stories.
When I'm not writing, I enjoy driving my motorbike, scuba diving, bocking (using kangaroo stilts), watching TV and films, gaming and obviously reading. I have two pet ferrets; Starbuck and Apollo. -
I've swam with sharks, morays and mata rays.... and I'm still alive.
I'm Bristish don't you know.
Oh and now, apparently, I'm a Webook top writer.
