The True Me

You hear me laugh, but really I cry,
I never shut-up, yet I'm shy,
You see my eyes twinkling bright,
But really they're as dark as night,
You see the smile on my face,
You feel the warmth of my embrace,
You hear the joyful way I talk,
You see the spring in the way I walk,
Can't you see all this is lies,
In my heart are tears and sighs,
In my heart I want me to be me,
But I feel I can't show what I want to be,
Or who I am, or how I feel,
That thought just doesn't appeal,
I can't show what's in my heart,
I really wouldn't know where to start,
Please don't judge by what you see,
For you don't know the true me!
