I don't know if I have a favourite, really I take authors on their own merit. But it's best to find one who makes you laugh.
Terry Pratchet - especially the earlier books.
But for an author that can really grip you I would have to say Lee Childs - Jack Reacher stories are pretty good. "I was the size of his coke machine." From the enemy...I love that line.
Scott Sigler - infected. For a newie; top notch horror thriller fantasy. -
