In short

  • My name is Brendan and I hail from Ireland, born and raised there in quite difficult circumstances. I left there at age fourteen, not to escape for my parents were amongst the best of people, I sought adventure I suppose and so I travelled the world or rather a good deal of it for I found some countries impossible to access. I hitched a lift when I could, worked ships when the need arose to cross to an Island or continent, and though my life, ’’my nomadic existence’’ was often turbulent it was also rewarding for I came to know something of other cultures, other people, good and bad. At about age twenty six I learned to read and write to a fashion, and that through the kindness of a friend, spelling still eludes me and I could write nothing without the aid of the spell check on my laptop, I read everything I could, now escaping into the pages of books, into the minds and hearts of people whom I would never meet yet whom would come to have a profound effect on my thought processes, I learned of poetry, a form of communication I am comfortable with, John Masefield is my favourite poet and The collected works of John Masefield  my favourite book,
At about age thirty whilst travelling through Indonesia ’’a Moslem country’’ I became involved in a Nichiren sect of Japanese Buddhism, and though since lapsed I have no regrets for I found great solace in it at a time when I needed some, I have been writing for four years, I have one poem published and though I know some would say ’only one’ I am happy with that, many thanks for reading, Brendan.
