In short

  • I'm 17 years old and have wanted to be a writer since I was 8 years old. I've been attempting to write "novels" since I was 11. Although I've never finished one, I think of them as stepping stones until that one great one I'll have! Apart from writing, I love reading, history, anthropology, international relations, languages, movies, music, and volunteering.

  • I had three poems published in the local newspaper in elementary school, and a couple short stories published in my school's literary magazine.

My Favorites: Reading and Writing

  • Pride and Prejudice, Anna Karenina, The Pillars of the Earth, Jane Eyre, The Thirteenth Tale, The Time Traveler's Wife, Eat Pray Love, The Poisonwood Bible, the entire Harry Potter series, Little Women.
  • The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent.
  • My bed at night, on the sofa next to our sunny bay window during the day.
  • I've started countless novels. The one I'm currently working on has been in my mind for two years, and is the lifelong identity crisis of an over-achiever high school valedictorian struggling against herself. I have a few short stories and poems as well, but nothing spectacular.
  • Jane Eyre.
  • Barbara Kingsolver and J.K. Rowling. If I could somehow combine their styles, I would be the happiest writer in the world.
