In short

  • When I was 8, I memorized the names of all the U.S. Presidents, their wives, their term length and causes of death.  What did I learn?  That it's impossible to commit all this to memory while attempting to serve as a competent right-fielder, which is perhaps why many a ball was dropped/missed/ignored on my watch.  *I did it for my country*
