The Amazing Amber
Glendale Community College, Glendale, AZ
In short
-
I am a 31 year old mother of three (two are surviving). Due to my children's disabilities, I have obtained a professional certification as a Developmental Disabilities Specialist from Glendale Community College in Arizona. That cert sits on the wall next to the professional certificate I received after completing the "Institutional Leadership Development Program for Maricopans" through The Chair Academy. These are nice pieces of paper, but nothing says "college educated" like a BS degree... ha!
On a personal note, I love movies, dancing, writing, outdoor recreation, and traveling. I'm very excitable when I am in a creative groove - so watch out! You never know where I'm gonna land....
Above all else, I believe in Love. I believe there is a Divine Plan to this wonderful world and I am just part of it. And while I am still a work in progress, I am quite a complex creature. As one of my closest friends put it:
“Amber exudes passion and an energy that is genuinely electric and extraordinarily contagious…She attacks everything in her path with passion, gusto and enthusiasm. Picture a Thoroughbred racehorse on derby day, ready to bust out of the gate, ready to give it everything she’s got…when you are lucky enough to meet her, please take note of the light that shines from within…she will make a keyboard sing, and leave an online posting aching for a response…Amber is most passionate about her family and those she truly cares about. She has faced more than her share of challenges and has done so with grace, decorum, and an optimistic spirit.” - Lori 2005
Fiery and feisty, gracious and glamorous - that’s me!

God Allows U-Turns: The Choices Teens Make.
In December 2005, I received word that a journal entry I wrote (two years prior) was accepted as a short story submission into a book titled, God Allows U-Turns: The Choices Teens Make. The story I wrote was about the one time I did a dumb thing as a result of peer pressure (stealing) and took the rap for it so my friend could get off the hook. Since then, I've been nothin' but an original gangsta, baby.
As an employee of the Maricopa Community College District, I've written (2), and directed/produced (3) comical and politically charged scripts into short films. The titles are "The Wintosh Wedding", "GCC ER: TAT Triage for Technology Support", and "GCC ER: PTAT Post-Op and the New Face of ITS". I've also written and published (on the web) untold volumes of business and technical processes, policies and procedures for Glendale CC, Mesa CC and now Rio Salado CC. To view the videos and see my other work projects, visit: http://asktheitgirl.com and go to the "About" page.
Dreams & Aspirations: I really want to make television and movies. I just love this creative stuff!

A bunch of self-help to success books... that aren't working. Hmm...
It's all bunk anyway. You must find it [success, confidence, love, etc.] within yourself first before you can manifest it outwardly.
How's that for pithy? -
Mostly, in bed when its cold and rainy outside or at night. Other times, in the park, under a tree, by the pool, (not so much in the car), on a plane, in a class, at a restaurant, or on a lunch break, and just before a nap... then back to bed! But I still will not eat green eggs and ham.
