  • I'm Emma, though I also go by Emmy and Em, so feel free to take your pick. I'm a stubborn, cynical and, so I've been told, quirky south east Queenslander. And yes, for those lacking in basic geographic skills, that's in Australia. And no, for those who watch too many bad movies, I don't wear a cork hat or ride a kangaroo. Try that and you might just get a long and extremely sharp claw in your stomach for your trouble. I'm your not-so-average teenaged girl and spend the majority of my time either writing or with my pets. I love complicated plots, characters you can relate to, believable dialogue and more drama than you can poke a stick at. I enjoy writing mostly away from mainstream and current trends, even though that means that not many people find my work "interesting".

Check out maddysue's hilarious story "Spearmint in the Suburbs" which is all about tic tacs and four very quirky characters...

  • Shadow Chasers, by Paul Adam.
  • No memoir in the planning stages for me just yet, but if I ever do write one, it'd have to have some odd title like... Got it: *elevator music*

  • Anyone different from me, i.e. someone with a different lifestyle, personality, etc. Guess that leaves it wide open ;P
  • A whole lot of different authors, but a few that really stand out in my mind are Peter Abrahams, Brian Falkner, John Marsden, James Patterson, Herbie Brennan, James Moloney and Charlie Higson. I tend to judge not on what an author has written, but on what they are writing. For instance, some authors may write a few books that I absolutely can't stand, then one day I'll read another book written by them and my jaw will drop with amazement. For others it's the opposite. So although I enjoy reading the works of the above mentioned authors, I doubt I will like every single book they write. Or maybe I will...
  • Anywhere and everywhere! I love reading down by the river at the back of our property, although it's a tad infested with mosquitoes so I have to read in three to five minute stints.
