Looking Glass
This is an anthology of poems giving philosophic backdrop to the many visual wonders and occurrences that I and others like me see or undergo whether in reality or in our imaginations - some where the visions can only be perceived by those who know where exactly to look and look very closely. Each poem is a step in a journey that ventures not only into the world we see around us, but the world that exists within our individual minds and souls. Explore your heart and your mind deeply. GIVE FEEDBACK
Chilling rain sweeps across my face, trickling down my frozen cheeks. I walk alone through this dreary dismal night searching for an answer. Searching for the key. The heavens are cloaked in clouds, hiding the illustrious moon. The rain picks up draping me with its blanket of depression. Wind howls through outstretched limbs along the dark lonely road as the weather nags and my weary, beaten body and soul; whipping me with nature's mourning.
I have grown accustom to nights like this. They reflect my thoughts. They mirror my life. They mimic my imperfections. Then in an instant, barely off in the distance, a cloud unveils the magnificent moon. This unpredictable, random spectacle starts to transform the night.
From an amazingly beautiful, breathtaking glimmer of hope, the night was no longer desolate. No longer dark. Peeking through the grim shell, the moon peeled back the shadows that suffocated my path. The clouds rolled away. Natures weeping had ceased. Twinkling stars accented the heavens, vibrantly decorating the brilliant sky. The vivid scene saturated my eyes and I became lost in its majesty. It was then that I realized; the moon had truly rejuvenated the night. The moon had released the night from its bondage. It set the night free.

This is an amazing group of writers/poets and a collection of touching, relevant pieces! You have my vote. I'll be perusing this for a long while. I'll be joining the next project and we'll see if my poetry muse can be dragged into the present; she's been sleeping for many years now.
She Comes to me on gossamer wings
We sit and talk of many things
Things in the future things yet to be
Cities of grandeur built under the sea
So what will we do with our landmass above
Why that will be cherished and nurtured with love
For well need all our landmass to grow all our food
How else will we cope and feed all our brood
Trips to the moon and round milky way via alpha centauri all in a day
Ride the rapids on saturns rings these are just a few of the wonderfull things

Fingers crossed, this has to be published, it's powerful work by all, has my vote, good luck to you

I really enjoyed this piece. The italics made it a little hard to read though. But all in all, this is one of my favourites for the day!
An amazing project that should be published, arranged by an equally amazing project leader
Everyone worked so hard! great job and good luck. This project gets my vote:)

I am really happy we made it this far. Being put up for a vote is just an honor for me alone. I hope all the other poets feel the same. Great job guys.
The selections in this project book will hold the attention of the reader. The project leader did an excellent job. Each poem and poet has a unique style. It was a pleasure to be a part of this project. I enjoyed reading it.
You are a very good writer I love your style. I voted for you please vote for my book "King Loverr: Diary of a Philosophical Loner.
thanks for allowing me to participate; great job, good luck, you have my vote.
thanks for the invite i was late in getting my work in to you and im sorry but best of luck in the vote :)
maybe next time i will be able to participate
maybe next time i will be able to participate
I just want to say thank you for the invite...I didn't get a chance to really participate..Good Luck
Do we know the results of the publishing contest yet? Or is it still going? Because I think it would be wonderful if Looking Glass made it.
I think all the poems in this project are amazing, and I wonder whether thursias, "Bane of webookers" has had a look at his own work lately. Unlikely.
hey everyone...i just posted a new poem..Wounded Soldier, check it out and let me know what you think:)
I would like to thank Thursias for talking sense. Someone who isn't blind to this awful mess.
I wonder why we, "poets", even bother putting projects up for publishing on webook when they've never chosen a poetry project for publishing no matter how popular or amazing it is. The amount of votes this project had, and other poetry projects as well, deserved to be published. What a shame.
I, Thursias, bane of webookers, just wanted to give my final thoughts, prior to the end of the vote:
These poems are (all of the ones that I read, I haven't read even a third, and indeed never had the patience to even scroll all the way through, for the love of god how many are there?) simply very, very bad.
Not publishable, not readable.
I challenge anyone to even claim that they have read more than a small fraction of these. Has anyone? Really?

I agree with the rest, this is a great project, so take it far. Good luck with the vote, I just wish I had've written something up for it a while ago.
Thank you to all you wonderful people, both friends, and others. I thank you for your vote... I have just realised this was nominated!
Yes, you've got my vote, for beautifully constructed story-telling poetry and cooperation.
I loved this expression of your "Reply to Mapping the Void" I could relate internally to the beautiful thought and vision within...
This is deep I loved how it started out it was alive and spiritual then I don't know what happened, I guess I just didn't connect at the end or it went to dark for me to understand??
It is difficult for me to evaluate poetry, because I don't enjoy reading poems -- except for humorous, light-hearted poems, like The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Green Eggs and Ham, and Oh, The Places You Go.
I love Dr. Seuss and his zany imagery, but don't much enjoy reading Whitman, Joyce, Yeats, Plath, Keats, Maya Angelou, or Shakespeare. Probably a bit beyond my ken. ;-)
As a result, I will refrain from any lengthy commentary on the substantive style of your poems. What I will say:
Unlike so many other "anorexically thin" poetry anthologies submitted this Voting Cycle, this one is packed with variety, and an abundance of poems by poets who, to my untrained eye, actually have something to say! ;-)
Good Luck! nancy

Awesome! Wonderfully written! Deserves to be picked up and published!! Good luck :)
The figure of fragments - beautifully written. thumbs up all the way. Good luck:-)
I may have to change my opinion about poetry! It touches on many of my own thoughts. The reference to a looking glass is especially effective. I often feel like a reflection in a mirror; people can see me but when they reach out all they touch is glass. Beautiful work!
this is great, keep doing the good work, persons like you inspired other to write and let go out the feelings.
Great Job! Possible typo:"Actions announcing the birth, life and death of progre" (progress, maybe?)
The concept that generates "Looking Glass" offers new insights and dimensions with sharing that can lead to a better world. This is entirely consistent with A Better Community for All (ABC4All)! Therefore this vote is cast! After all, the world did just enter into a new era!
I haven't read even close to all of this...but what I have read is pretty bad. Dylan Thomas said, and I'm paraphrasing: the job of the poet to represent her/his perception as accurately as possible, through language. I like that idea... I haven't found any of these works to accomplish it. However, people are sensitive about poetry...so I won't go into detail, but in general this seems to be poetry by people who have read very little poetry, sans any actual knowledge of rhyme schemes, or the real and impassioned Love of Language that is absolutely critical to good poetry. I haven't voted yet, so if there's some really good work within this tome, please point me to it! I'd love a reason to give this a thumbs up.
thanx for taking time in one's work appreciate it
there should be more people like you on this
site.... giving pointers and caring
you are what we webookers need
keep up the good work
And for all tose who
leave bad feedback you will pay in your own work

Abolutely brilliant you most definately need to be published as quickly as you can Keep up the good work this is a very beautiful poem
Melissa just wrote to inform me that webook does use an IP monitor, so redundant IP votes will not count.
Some of these are great!
Anjali -- I thoroughly enjoyed reading Event Horizon, especially your flow towards the end:

The Conscience Being
The Creator

we call
God.

I truly enjoyed the read, and being a part of the project, of course I voted for publication good luck.
Great poem! You are a great writer. I love all you work. I hope Looking Glass gets published. We all have put our best here.
I thought this was delightful Londis, what a wonderful thing imagination is! Fantasia
Hello, It's Myah Knight. I see that you asked my to join your project. I would love to. I'm not quite sure how that goes. Please get back at me. I'm checking this site a lot more frequently now. I look forward to collaborating with you soon.
the most beautiful and sad poem i have read for a long time, good job that s a great poem.
I loved this work of poetry. It stimulates your imagination.
I look forward to seeing this book published.
I look forward to seeing this book published.
There is many different types of poems that explain how people felt and what they were thinking. Its an awesome project
Chris is bloody everywhere, told me to check this out...brill, got my vote (glad I was told about this we book site)
I've been keeping an eye on the poles and on the works for which I voted. I've noticed that it is quite plain that the best works are receiving the most negative votes, simply because others feel their chances are threatened. There might even be some cross-negative voting, ie, your fans voting negatively on other books, so I thought you'd like to know the following. Please read it and let your fans know that they need not vote negatively to get your work published! i received this email from Melissa, the site coordinator after emailing her my thoughts and feelings about the negative vote.:

James,
I've posted about this in the WEbook forums; check it out here: http://www.webook.com/forums/messageIndex.aspx?topic=cce7e374128946999b9c4baca1e2e360&fview=true
We did not anticipate the kind of negativity and unscrupulous voting that we've seen. We will likely not include negative votes in the final tally.

Hey Melissa! I am writing because, as I'm sure are many we-booker's, I'm concerned about the 'negative voting'. People are clearly just voting every project (other than their favorite) down without reading the material. This is really disappointing, and I am a little bewildered as to how this clearly inevitable outcome might not have been anticipated.
Is there any talk of eliminating this feature prior to the end of the election? This is becoming a really hostile process, and it seems clear that given the "negative voting" mechanism, the results of this voting process will be impossible to interpret.
How will you select the top 10%? What will determine that ranking from which you will select a work or works? The highest % positive will of course be books only voted on a few time. Will you ignore the negative votes at that point?
In any case, I just wanted to express my profound disappointment at this process. I would love to know to what purpose the negative voting information will be put, as I would sleep better at night. Right now my favorite webook books are getting crushed under the negative weight, and it is tragic.

WOW I must say that I am not a big fan of poems, but... I loved this one, it so describes the hart of a writer.
If I could I would give you two thumbs up.

Great idea and some wonderful poems submitted. I for one see these works in print . Which is why I give this two big thumbs up.
It was the right idea to put this one in the vote zone. You are brimming with talent.
I am just a benevolent observer, whom is now witnessing to the malevolence that dwells within men and Earth.
Wonderful disposition and characterized as one of the best poetic verses I have read.
Best line right here:
"Wanting to taste the flavor of creation."
I don't know there was something about it, good work.

Very good collection, congratulations to all of the contributors. Wish you good luck with it!
This Anthology covers so many view points on this subject, Anyone that read it would love it. I would love to add it to my library.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I hope soon in the future I can join you in some of your deep words.
This should definitely be shared with everyone, especially those who know what they want to say and are looking for people to share it with! It is now time for them to open their minds and enter the worlds that lie within themselves, while exploring the world around them and sharing their opinions on it!
Thank you for inviting me. In fact, I believe my 1st submission (today...i'm brand new) "Anxiety" might fit your scope.
Thanx for the invite. I'm not a great poet but I will give my best on this project.
Thanks for the invite I will defiantly be on the project. I love to write poems and I would like to start a book of my own with life's contemplations in them. It will be neat to see how this goes.
Hello,
wanted to say I would love to partcipate-opening a new business and will have some time near Jan. Keep me on your list though!

Thank you for the invite but I don't write poems... just stories of fiction.
sorry!
sorry!
Aww, it seems I'm a little too late in joining in >< In that case, I really look forward to the sequel! This is just my kind of book and I already have one poem that I'm sure will fit, plus another in the works. So I hope it gets written!
"The Puzzle"
As we put our puzzles together
forming the pictures of our lives.
Some of them fit tighter
as we place them side by side.
Then like magic forms its beauty
of what our lives have been.
The joys, the tears, the laughter, and love
of those life pieces from within.
I'm rounding out my edges
of the puzzle now I have made.
with its colors like the rainbow
of which from my God, to me gave.
But one piece I see still missing
there yet to complete it all.
I will hold onto that final piece
until I hear my trumpets call.

Glimpse Into Another World
by Keller
a dark area foliage covers the sky
Light glimpsed through the bush as if trying to see through
its eye shone onto a portal to another world
Eerie inhabitants glistened in the light as the planets from above
were outlined on the distant horizon by a watchful eye.
This describes a day I visited a reflecting garden and someone took a picture of me meditating. I think of it often because it was overlooking the Pacific at a self-realization setting and it was very peaceful. I think of it often with fondness.

thanks for the invite. I have never really written poetry but I am willing to give it a shot. I am more of a story writer. But who knows what will crawl up from the depths of the creative slime in my brain.
Thank you for the invite. Poetry is not something I have done in quite some time.
LOVE the discription! -"philosophic backdrop to the many visual wonders and occurrences"- You almost quoted the title to my bio! "I will be contributing, gladly. Thank you for the invite.

***********
Wounded by the shadows whispering acts
Voices talking without facts
Never hearing the truth, it knows
Still the whispering grows
Dark veiled lies are perjured without care
Souls damaged beyond repair
Rapier strokes of truth needed
Cutting back tangled webs, weeded
Reaching the cores heart
Deftly the strokes of light invade this part
Dying the lies thrown asunder
Deep into the depths of despair, there they blunder
Lessons for life’s lying tongues, be tough
Enough!!!!!!!!!

thanks for the invite. although lately i haven't been letting my mind free i'm going to try and write something in here for you
Thank you for inviting me. Although I don't write poetry, I have a profound appreciation of varied forms of our craft.
Thanks for the invite. I'm more of a novelist than a poet, but I'll see if I can think of anything that fits the theme. If I can, I'll join in. :)
GREAT project, but I feel a growing number of submissions has nothing to do with the project's theme.
Hey,
I have some crazy poems that might fit in with what you are trying to do if you are interested..

Thanks so much for the invite...Sounds like an excellent idea. I'd love to participate. Now I'm inspired. I'llget rid of hubby so I can concentrate on this.
I used a poem I had already wrotten that I think pertained to the incite needed. Feedback would be nice, and greatly appreciated.
I would love to help you and others not to mention myself get a word out to whoever is interested in reading poetry. I think literature is awesome, the manipulation of words into sentences is so under rated. I will work on something special and get back with you soon.... Thanks for the chance to show off I look forward to working with everybody and reading what is written by all who joins this project.
Thanks so much for inviting me to travel a new path. I shall put pads to keys and see where it takes me.

REFLECTIONS
Lonely pieces of dreams
litter the near-empty skies
There I sit alone
hoarding away by fate
and about the crammed, dusty stars
In a space of two or about,
shadows fill the once, warm skies.
Like human, they trip as in ballet
and like a ball game,
they fall, and crawl
then lie and die.
...simply full of thoughts of one, two and death!

I just joined the project, but I won't be able to post anything until I get back from a marching Band Competition.
I love all the posts in this project!
I love all the posts in this project!
This is exactly the kind of project I meant to start with "Where do you go?" :) I'm excited!
Thank you for the invitation. However, poetry is something I have not worked with in... oh, say, 5 or 6 years. So anything I posted would be woefully pathetic. But if I may, I would greatly enjoy reading this poetry. I enjoy its melodies even if I cannot create them.
Thank you for the invite. I have a few pieces I will be happy to submit. Until then, best wishes to you . . .
well... i have a lot of poems that fit into this project... but theyre in my own, so i dont think i should post them here.
If i come up with something special, ill post.

Thank you ,I'll open my heart and spill word on this paper for a heart that can speak is greater than a pen and a paper.
Thnx for inviting me to participate in your project. I hope and pray that I may make great contributions to your cause.
Thanks for the invite, I shall return to peruse and share my insights. So far it is a wonderful idea.
I have an sensate feeling that something catastrophic will happen to me in the near future.Somethjing that is both malevolent and benevolent.
At the same time. I have vision of angels dividing and also I have vision of daemons and beast that are colliding, and as I was pontificating the future of my miserable “Spartan” like surroundings, the answer hit me like a ton of breaks, just before the serial killer came and gave me a sentence of death, without the hint of possibility of seeing life or the sweet taste of smell of cunnilingual virgin again

Full of love, compassionate
Always in a mood to suit
Have I laboured twenty years
Giving all to be refined
Surely something deep has changed
If not in body, then in mind.
I am still controlled by me
Things have worsened, I admit
I have nowhere else to go
Thrashing in a lowly pit
This is where He wants me at
He's the only hope I have
Take this selfish, wasted child
Change my sorry epitaph.
Thank you for the invite. But I have to decline. I find writing poems to be like pulling out teeth. My mind does not think that way. But I will read some of what has been put in.
Thank you for the invite. I thank you for it and hope to bring something along with me in the near future.

Thanks for the invite, but I can't write poetry to save my life! Sorry, I'll have to decline.
Hmmm, there sure are a lot of poems here. I think I'd best wait for Volume II. Thanks for the invite.
Thanks for the invite. I'll do my best even though I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say in the description...
Thank you for the invite. I am new the the website, so I have to ask you what I need to do when I join a project. Do I need to write a poem pertaining to that project?? Thank you again for the invite.
Thank you very much for inviting me I think I will try this out and see how it goes. It seems like something right in my niche.
i am gracious for your invite but i do believe my type of poetry is a bit too dark for this bc i write based on my past where i went through depression rejection from family and suicidal thoughts so my poetry probably is too dark
i am honored by the invite...
I have many poems focusing on issues like these, and Im actually working on a book of short stories and poetries entitled "Through the Minds Eye"
so i definitley think we have some common ground here...
would love to submit some poems to this ...
i will when i get a chance... im working 2 jobs right now and have barely any free time...
please keep in touch and let me know about updates to the project
Thanks,
-Timothy J.

Thank you for inviting me, though I have to decline, I'm not very good in the ways of poetry.

Thank you for the invite. Don't have any poems that fits the overview of this project; however, am thinking of writing one.
Wow. I'm crazy-busy these days, but I'll check this out more once things settle down. Thanks for the invite, it's appreciated.
Thanks for the invite...I'm not really much of a poet, but I'll give it a try when I get some time.
This is the first project I've been invited to, and I'm glad as well, this project seems really interesting, thank you.
thanks for the invite. will see what I can come up with. good luck on the project.
Thank you for the invite. I need to take a look at a few poems here to see what it is your after. Hope to be able to find something suitable for you.
thank you for the invite im still slightly confused on the poems you are looking for obviously u arent really looking for poems that tell stories but more of poems that are like questions right?
Thank you for the invite. I might have to do some soul searching to be able to find the kind of poetry you're looking for, as I generally write poetry which is light, and about tangibles, written in rhyme. However, I have never tried poetry of this nature, so it will be an exciting challenge to have a go and see what happens!
Oh lovely well im new to this not sure what im doing at the moment but would like to involve my Poem Where is the peace?
Thanks for inviting me to join the project any way I can help let me know.

thanx for the invite, i must warn u guys my poems are not regular nor weird poems its just a peek through someone elses eyes.....itsjust diferrent..but its real
Thank you for the invitation to be apart of this project. I have written some poems in the past that I think might fit well in this collection. I will give it a try, and I hope you find much food-for-thought in my words.
Thank you so much for the invitation, but I'm not necessarily sure whether I'll be able to participate. I'm not throwing down the idea, but I'll have to think about it.
Thanks for the invite but I'm really shaky in the poetry department at this time. Hopefully, I can do this in the future.
Thank you for the invite! I am more of an author, not a poet, but I will most definitely consider joining your project.
If not, good luck!

Thank u for the invite..... May I ask what exactly are you looking for. I have tons of poems ranging in styles and thoughts. Just message me and let me know. Hope to hear from you soon. Happy writing
I may have spoken in haste about assisting you in this glorious
endeavor you have task yourself upon. Today out of frustration I wrote a rustic prose just to get the flakes off my chest. That was the first so called poem I have written in 30 years. Thanks for the invite. The brief passages I read were certainly worthy of
popping a firecracker to. I'll make a gladiator stab at a humble
contribution, eventually.

This is a cool idea for a project. Kinda up my alley. When I get the time I'll try to pen something up that I think fits and put it up. Thanks for the Invite.

Thank you very much for teh Invitation. I appreciate it really I do But I'm not an avid Poet I can only write when I'm depressed which isn't good for anyone even if it is productive. So I.. am Afraid I must Decline as any work I may do will not be up to the standards of this project.
Sincerest appologies,

Thanks 4 the invite. Sounds like a great anthology. I will come up with something 2 suit the theme u have :D
Poetry is second to me - I have submitted an effort I have made today and hope that you will critique it / love it or hate it!
Hrmmmm...my poems usually degenerate into dirty limericks...if it weren't poetry I'd have a lot to offer to the project, but I don't think poetry is my strong point...
appreciate the invite;
hope my awareness gives you the insight; you are looking for
