However, any documents recording their pasts were either destroyed or hidden away by the Aristocracy - the royal families of the vampires. In their gold and ivory chambers filled with the most precious gems, they sit and laugh at the insignificant human beings at their feet, for they are in control of everything. With seven great families and billions of vampires everywhere, they have a strong grip over the human race, controlling its population, money, education, drugs... Nothing is out of their reach. They are superior in intelligence; however, unless political and economical influence is a super power, they are not magical as so many humans seem to believe.

Within the Aristocracy, there exists a child who holds the currently latent ability to change all this. She is the gate to the past, present, and future; all one would need to do is find the key which can unlock this gate. However, she is a mystery to all. Given the name Cilia and put in the secret care of the Emeralds, she has no memory of her past and suffers from frequent fits of amnesia, able to feel only limited amounts of emotion at a time. She is the second most influential female vampire of the northwest hemisphere, second only to her mother.
