A Native American captain in the NYPD, is forced into taking a leave of absence from the department after capturing a serial killer known as the Manhattan Butcher. The police Psychiatrist reported that though the detective’s physical injuries will heal quickly, he is not sure if he will ever completely recover from the mental trauma caused by the viciousness of such a high profile case. 

During his recovery, the detective accepts what he believes will be a temporary job as head of campus security in a small college town in central New York State. A job he feels will cause little stress and offer him plenty of peace and quiet. Of course he is wrong!  A male student is murdered, and several girls are attacked. There are few clues that might help solve the crimes, and though one of the coeds is the former girlfriend of the murdered student, no one is sure the incidents are even related.

The detective, who at age seven discovered that he was chosen to receive protection and guidance from the spirit of an ancient Iroquois warrior he calls Dag, Who chose him or sent Dag, he is not sure.
