To follow beyond created heights
Lay back beneath the hollowed tomb
There I weep in your painted slumber
Deep within the jaws of night
Trip forth into the shaded curtain
The showers fall and you do clutch me
Tight against your warm still heart
My heart beats ever quicker
And I can’t deny I lose myself
Tell me where I find
My sanctioned piece of light
My escape from death against the night
To try to learn the truth in your words
To find the meaning in the molded walls
Puddle dotted warped cement floor
Empty shower stalls and this bathhouse
Is home to your spirit
And here you can visit me
And I can spend our time together
Safe from the dangers that lurk beyond
The chaos and barking of the day lit world
Simply silenced in the need not for voices
Thoughts sent directly from you to my mind
You send me the balance I am trying to find
To believe in life that passes through
Waves of light and shade
The glitter in your eyes still glows
Though far from you they see
The hills and rivers and sins of man
Your blessed eyes voyeur permitted
On dreams and wakes alike
And your hand extends to grace the cursed day
Heavy hearts can relearn to soar
When helped by angel wings
Angel of God my guardian dear
We cry in delight of your presence here
To fly beyond the hills that hold
Us back as we trod broken
A secret envy and a treasured image
Instilled in me for the duration
You lay not just in my mind
But linger in the souls of those you love
And hand out peace like parade candy
Stronger than was ever known
You mirror her strength
Humble and brave like those first women who believed
Heroine who knows nothing of what is fair
Has a pure heart that shines beyond compare
for Shawn

Dad
You were always there.
You always had my back.
You always knew the answer.
Never did I fear, because you were always there.
You kicked my ass when I was dumb,
And held my hand when I was scared.
You gave me confidence in myself and in my life,
The confidence I need to today, to push forward with my life.
Never did I fear, because you were always there.
You taught me to see all sides,
And question what I “knew”.
You made me angry and made me yell,
Because you wanted me to know, that I could never know it all
Never did I fear, because you were always there.
You played games when I was younger,
And you played games when I was older.
You showed me that I could always be a kid,
And that though I had to grow up, I didn’t have to grow old.
Never did I fear, because you were always there.
You made me the man I am today,
And I see you in myself, each and every day.
You gave me all your love, and in turn I was never alone.
Never did I fear, because you were always there.
You embraced your life,
And in turn I embraced mine.
You taught me to live and love every day,
Because that is why we’re here, to live and love.
Never did I fear, because you were always there.
You made me witness to a testament of strength
And because of you I know I have that strength too.
You never gave in, and you made sure all was right
Before you left, before your time, before I was ready.
Never did I fear, because you were always there.
You were my dad, my mentor, my friend
And because of you I can handle you being gone.
You made me believe that I am strong enough,
Strong enough to handle anything, even you being gone.
Never will I fear, because you are always there.
You are always there.
You were always there.

If i could tell you just how amazing this man was it would take years so ill say it in a short poem...
hear goes
Broken glass and a shaterd mind.
the war Screwed you up but you still came through..
You showed me how throw a foot ball/ baseball
Your wife showed me my new love for art.
You were one of the few people whowould take me to a zoo with a broken leg.
Now gone after a horrible visit to the hospital(its there fult your gone)
I remember the time you took my hand and pulled me away from traffic cuzz im an idiot...
you have saved my life countless times...
Setle up you would say when im in a hyper state..
You told me to fallow my dreams,, and that i would suceed..
Guess what

I was idly following
my new thing
through some department
junk store
when I tripped
quite unexpectedly
across your scent
still subtly lingering
in an aisle filled with
shoes and pantyhose.
I didn’t know that
I still knew what
you smelled like,
but there you were
right in my nose
and by my side
so long as my eyes
were closed.
I’ll admit
I looked around
for just a bit,
but where did you go?
I turned a corner,
following my
nose pointed
high in the air,
but only she was there,
my new thing,
looking for a
black and white dress.
Nothing is black and white.
Your fragrance was gone.
You are gone.
And I was there, still,
trying to understand
exactly why I suddenly
didn’t feel like shopping anymore.
