My local library had a competition where a short story must be written in exactly 50 words. (There are other conditions, outlined below.) Decided I might as well place my attempts up here and see how others go at this difficult but fun task!

My local library had a competition where a short story must be written in exactly 50 words. (There are other conditions, outlined below.) Decided I might as well place my attempts up here and see how others go at this difficult but fun task!

-must be a Journey/Adventure that begins with picking up a penny.
 Suggestions for themes and scenes welcome for upcoming challenges!


IMPORTANT – Due the and overwhelming response to 50 words it has become imperative that the subs follow the criteria to the LETTER – This may go to the vote at a later date and subs that do not meet the criteria will unfortunately need to be removed. I hope you take the time to check out any prior subs and make sure the meet the criteria or bring them up to scratch. If you are unsure send me a message and I will help you out. (For example – in challenge two - A journey/adventure that begins with picking up a penny – of course in exactly 50 words* - many of the ‘pennies’ were not ‘picked up’ – not meaning to nitpick here but many have stuck strictly to the criteria making it only fair to put those limits on all submitters and hopefully produce the best possible project for the vote.) Please consider this when you are providing feedback to others also!

IMPORTANT – DUE TO THE MASSIVE RESPONSE IT IS BECOMING IMPOSSIBLE TO READ EVERY SUB – BUT I WILL TRY. I AIM TO READ AT LEAST ONE OF EVERY WRITERS SUBS – BECAUSE I MIGHT MISS SOME I ASK YOU ALL WHEN REVIEWING TO CONSIDER IF THE SUBMITTER HAS ADHERED TO ALL THE CRITERIA AND IF NOT ENCOURAGE THEM TO ADJUST THE SUB FOR AN INCREASED RATING! Check out the subs with little or no feedback and the ones that have been kind enough to review you!

ALSO A LIMIT OF 4 SUBS per writer – so pick your best ones please! Over four subs per challenge may incur a removal of some subs at a later date.

REMEMBER – do not trust webook’s word count!!! Please manually count your words. Also if you change a sub to meet criteria I suggest you message the reviewer that pointed out the issues so they can up their rating for your efforts.
