Derich Kliev is a World War 2 veteran with a secret, which he's borne for over fifty years. Burdened by the weight of his secret, Derich finds it difficult to cope, and is distressed by the attitude he recognizes in his grandson.

Both are at odds with each other, until a fateful assignment from an unknowing schoolteacher draws them both together in ways that neither imagines. A chain of events bring Brian's life down a path that completely alters his perspective on everything he thought he knew as his life slowly becomes intertwined with that of his grandfather. As their stories clash, tension rises and history threatens to repeat on a minor scale.
