First things first!  A hobo is a person who hops freight trains. Not somebody who lives under a bridge.  Not somebody you see on the park bench drinking from a wine bottle.  Not somebody you see with a needle hanging from his arm with track marks running up and down all the way.  Not somebody you see on the downtown street corner bumming for spare-change.  Not somebody you see standing in line for a bed downtown at the mission/homeless shelters.  Not somebody you see walking downtown talking to himself.  Not somebody you see on the side of the hiway with their thumb out.
A hobo rides/hops freight trains wherever he may need to go, whether it's across the state or across the country!
After I graduated in 1989, I was bored in every direction that I looked!
So I hopped a freight train from Laramie, Wyoming to Stockton, California within a three day trip...
Now 21 years, 345,000 miles of railroad tracks, 49 USA states, eight Canadian provinces, 14 Mexican states later, I became that professional hobo that I wanted to be, clear and simple!
