Millie Gail Grundy, B.L.O.B.
Sometime back in the 90's my mind went on holiday, imagining what I could do with my life if I only had the nerve...and lo and behold, Millie Gail Grundy, B.L.O.B., came round tapping at my condo door, begging someone to tell her story. I agreed. For a price. I would tell her story, but forevermore it would be under the guise of my own name and I held the copyright. She sighed and agreed. All she really wanted, she explained, was to tell all the poor frumpy middle aged women of the world th

Hey, how exciting and congratulations!! You must be so thrilled to have your book nominated and winner of runners up!! As soon as I saw your name I had to respond. So after I send this I am going to read your story!!!
I, Thursias, bane of webookers, just wanted to give my final thoughts, prior to the end of the vote:
I really enjoyed what I read of this. It is definitely my number 3 pick for publication in this cycle. There are two reasons for this:
1) It is bloody funny. This author is very talented, and has a bright future. I would have considered 'pre-ordering' this book if the option had existed.
2) Unlike virtually everything else in this voting cycle, it requires no further editing (as nearly as I can tell), and is ready for the presses.

What a great acronym! I love it.
Very inspiring, and why not start over, right?

This is great! Can't believe I hadn't stopped to read it sooner. Awesome job!
One of the best of this voting cycle.....compelling, fresh, fun. Almost every line offers a refreshing nugget.....I think this deserves a serious look at being published. Good stuff GG!
MJ told me to vote for you because you rule. I do whatever she wants me to do.
Jan: I know I will enjoy reading this book in it's entirety! Thanks for letting me know about it. I am amazed at your ability to focus on so many projects and bring them to completion. Kudos to you...it is definitely not a question of if you will be published, but WHEN??!!!
This is going to be a great story that needs to be published in a big way it is that good
Sounds like mine only I had seven of them, Humor is the only defense. and you seem to have an abundance of that. Your writing style puts me in mind of the famous Erma Brombeck the columist I love reading her daily. You have that samd quaility. thumbs up for sure.
A subject matter that I'm sure lots of people will identify with - definately worth publishing
Wonderful and unique voice. Somebody please publish this great work. Thumbs to the heavens!
I think this is quality Chick Lit. Voice is everything in this genre, and you got it. Your voice is fresh. You can tell a story. And you've got a story. So, with some thinking, I come to this: good book that fits squarely in lucrative genre: yes, publish.
Wow... this is one of the best things I've read so far on WEbook. I now add this to my list of works I consider to be "publishable":
God and the Other
Allison Wonderland
Millie Gail Grundy, B.L.O.B.
Hurray! WEbook has a future!

It's a winner! Wish I had time to read it all the way through...what I've seen so far is definitely print-worthy!
OMG.....have you been peeking in my windows? This is my life you are writing about! And you do it with such hillarity! Having "been there and done that" I know first hand that if you don't keep a sense of humor about you, you will crack! I truly hope this gets published! Can't wait to read the rest! Best wishes!
Love your style of writing...hilarious..but i feel a bit guilty laughing.
You got a thumbs up from me.

Well, Jan, once you're done with NaNoWriMo, and illustrations of Ziggy for Too Much Stuff, you obviously need to get going on the next book in this soon-to-be series!
I am so delighted that your FAN BASE keeps growing!

I can't remember what it's called, but this reminds me of a British movie called Shirley valentine, i think, well that was the main character's name anyway...but she runs away to Greece....cool
I've never had so much fun reading and laughing, or is it laughing while reading? This is one funny story. I hope you win.
Thumbs up always, you are a lovely inspirational star, to all at WEbook GranisGrazin, love Wennie xxxhugs
Light-hearted and amusing. I think with some serious line-by-line editing this would be great. Sometimes I feel like you get a bit off-topic, lose focus or don't ease in enough information to paint a clearer picture for the reader, but the style reminds me of an author of one of my fav. series. good luck!
I just read a line I wrote, and I meant: I think the system of women doing it all at home is backwards. Time to sell it all and move to paradise!!!
Wanted to let you know, I'm reading and enjoying. You've got a sense of humor that hits close to my home here in the old banana land of Costa Rica. I like the character and she reminds me of...what was the one that went to Greece - a play I think. Too long women do too much. I think the systems backwards and I'm glad the protagonist took chance, like we all want to do.
This was great. You are very gifted and talented. I truly enjoyed reading it. Got my vote. Best of luck.
Ooh - because it's my trademark (apparently?) to leave cutting, negative feedback, I wanted to provide some constructive criticism with the kudos.
-You have chosen a font that reads a little large on my Macbook. Not sure if it's my computer or if I'm an anal-retentive technical writer, but the more a piece looks like a traditional novel, the more it ... looks like a traditional novel, if you get me.
-On that note, the ellipses you have added into your piece create friction, in my opinion. With space between them or without them altogether, I see no reason why this couldn't -skip- the editor's pen.

You are an amazing writer. This piece shows extreme talent and maturity (not just of the character, but of the author). There are phrases all over that sting with humor. The flow is flawless and a reader is able to immediately identify with this woman.
I was scrolling down your page of submissions, looking lost, when I saw: Millie Gail Grundy, B.L.O.B.
For the same reason, if I was cruising through Chapters and - for whatever reason - in the sort of section that might house this novel, I would stop, pick it up, and have a gander.
Vote's a yes.

Great story, I could read your writing forever. Good luck on being published by webook. You certainly deserve it. I wrote what is below on the first story and it popped up on this page. Sorry, but everything that I said about you being a great writer still stands. I am just puzzled as to why and how it followed me to this page.
I voted a thumbs up, your writing is great. I loved the story and was thrilled to read about your life with your children and your ex-husband with his new wife Betty Boop. They all have to be the ones that get everything, don't they. Somehow, that just isn't fair. I think you are one of the greatest writers on webook and want to congratulate you on your well written story. Thank you for humoring me this evening.
I already voted thumbs up but this story is great Jan! Where were you hiding this one! I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner. I just can't keep up these days!
I think you are gloriously talented my dear!

I am so sorry that I never read this before - it is classic!
I vote "t'up" and will buy as soon as it is published - thank you!

There are people on this site that are head and shoulders above the rest and you are among them. My next line was going to be I HATE YOU but after reading James Brown's post I was afraid you may believe it! You know I tease a lot right? Thumbs up from me. I hate you!
Hi,
I've been keeping an eye on the poles and on the works for which I voted. I've noticed that it is quite plain that the best works are receiving the most negative votes, simply because others feel their chances are threatened. There might even be some cross-negative voting, ie, your fans voting negatively on other books, so I thought you'd like to know the following. Please read it and let your fans know that they need not vote negatively to get your work published! i received this email from Melissa, the site coordinator after emailing her my thoughts and feelings about the negative vote.:

James,
I've posted about this in the WEbook forums; check it out here: http://www.webook.com/forums/messageIndex.aspx?topic=cce7e374128946999b9c4baca1e2e360&fview=true
We did not anticipate the kind of negativity and unscrupulous voting that we've seen. We will likely not include negative votes in the final tally.

Hey Melissa! I am writing because, as I'm sure are many we-booker's, I'm concerned about the 'negative voting'. People are clearly just voting every project (other than their favorite) down without reading the material. This is really disappointing, and I am a little bewildered as to how this clearly inevitable outcome might not have been anticipated.
Is there any talk of eliminating this feature prior to the end of the election? This is becoming a really hostile process, and it seems clear that given the "negative voting" mechanism, the results of this voting process will be impossible to interpret.
How will you select the top 10%? What will determine that ranking from which you will select a work or works? The highest % positive will of course be books only voted on a few time. Will you ignore the negative votes at that point?
In any case, I just wanted to express my profound disappointment at this process. I would love to know to what purpose the negative voting information will be put, as I would sleep better at night. Right now my favorite webook books are getting crushed under the negative weight, and it is tragic.

I'd have given you two if I could, but since only one is allowed, I gave it to you! Good Luck! :)

Quite entertaining. You have a wonderful over-the-fence style that is disarming and full of mischief. Good luck as you put together this book.
Very nice, GranisGrazin. I am intrigued with this story. I'd like to come to visit again after the voting is done. Good luck to you. Thumbs up.
this author has real talent and obviously has studied people and their behavior...either in the mall or on a couch for money!
I hope this well-written saga is being submitted for voting this cycle. It is great fun and would do well!
