  Moe (slang). A word used to describe our club. The Ouran High School Host Club, that is. Famous throughout Japan, as well as other countries, for its outstanding, carefree, and loving hosts. Are we open to the public? Strictly, no. But for our high class, punctual students, the 3rd Music Room is a place of relaxation where your fantasies unwind.

 First of all, there is the charming Tamaki Suoh. The founder and high leader of our club. Although he is childish and in most senses an idiot, Tama-chan sees the best in everyone that sometimes the actual person didn’t know was there. His interests include playing piano, learning about Japanese artefacts and history and having a good time with all his friends at the host club. Despite the fact of him seeming stupid, he is second in his class to Kyouya.  He loves ramen and instant coffee – commoner food. His father is the superintendant of Ouran. Tamaki is half Japanese and half French, therefore considered very handsome. His love of making everyone happy originates from his mother, whom he is not allowed to see. His traits include; being dense about his own situations; he can be melodramatic at times; he selfish and narcissistic. Is hated by his grandmother.

 Then, of course, is vice president, cool type – Kyouya Ootori. Often called ‘mother’ by Tamaki Suoh. Despite drastic differences, Kyouya and Tamaki are best friends, while being enemies in business. Although he is the third son and realises that he will probably not be the successor of his father’s medicine company, Kyou-chan does not give up trying his hardest, but not to outshine his older brothers at the same time; even though it’s obvious he would be more fitted to the job than the two of them. He sees life as a game, and the more people you know, the better you are at the game. He believes that he should act proper to get credits in the public. His father does not approve of him being in the Host Club. He keeps to himself and acts cool, but inside he just wants to let loose.

The twins are a definite favourite and are the devious type. In the same class as Haruhi, but have been twisted and cold towards everyone up until they joined the Club after losing a bet with Tamaki. Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin are considered one entity and envelope themselves with brotherly love. Haruhi was (supposedly) the first person to be able to tell them apart – But Tamaki won the bet of ‘Which twin is Hikaru?’ before the creation of our dear club. Even though they have been together all their lives and hate being apart, they are different people. Kaoru has trouble expressing his self and is therefore nicer. Hikaru is immature and isn’t used to socialising with other people quite yet so he often gets angry. Kaoru doesn’t like Haruhi enough to keep her all to his self, so he lets Hikaru like her, knowing that nothing could happen. Hikaru can drive a horse and cart, as well as Mori.

 Loli-shota type, Mitsukuni Haninozuka is the cute and cake-mad sweetie of the club. He is mostly called Honey. Although he is seventeen and is one of the oldest in the club, he has the appearance of a young child. He has a cute nickname for everyone. His younger brother hates him and fights with him every time they see each other because of the family name and his brother not liking the fact that Honey can devour three whole cakes after a meal and stays up at night eating more cakes and that he is also well skilled in Karate and Judo. Honey carries around a plush bunny doll named Usa-chan, which Tamaki gave him when persuading him to join and quit Martial Arts because he was not using his true strength of being himself. It is said that if Honey’s combat skills were unleashed he would be considered a threat to the national security.

 Takashi Morinozuka (Mori) is the typical ‘strong but silent’ type, and although he doesn’t talk much, he has a loving and warm heart. Two generations ago, the Morinozuka family served the Haninozuka family, until they were merged by marriage and Mori and Honey became cousins. Mori-chan still protects his cousin with his life as his best friend. The two are rarely apart, and both are good in combat. When they are looked upon, it seems like Mori is Honey’s older brother or something and Honey is often seen on Mori’s shoulders to make Mori less scary and ‘give him purpose’. Mori gets extremely angry if Honey is injured and is in pain when he sees Honey in pain, like if he has a cavity from eating too much cake.

Last but definitely not least, the Natural type, Haruhi Fujioka. Haru-chan is intelligent, but comes from a working class home and is though of as a ‘commoner’ who drinks instant coffee and can’t go on holiday by Tamaki. Tamaki also calls himself her ‘father’, while Kyou is the ‘mother’. It is a secret that Haruhi is a girl and was raised by her cross-dressing father because her mother died when she was only five. The White Lily society are after her, but lucky us, we get to keep her! She has no interest in flashy things, and just ends up going along with all of Tamaki’s strange plans. She ended up in the host club, dressed as a guy and cutting her hair, because she broke an expensive vase on her first visit and is paying back the debt. All the members of the Club love her (mostly Tamaki and the twins). She wants to study to keep her grades up, but the club is her top priority.
