My Pal, Christ
It is a time when everyone looks for the biblical signs of the end. Yet, no one searches for the biblical signs of hope. Without fanfare or disastrous preliminaries, Jesus Christ decides now is a good time to return to earth. His purpose is pure, His intentions are good, and mankind's fate does not hang in the balance. It is an experiment to see if He can make a difference by walking the earth as an ordinary man. As an ‘Average Joe’ He surrounds himself with a small eclectic group of friends to

GIVE FEEDBACK
I'm going to have to disagree again. First, Carole, this isn't a "Christian" book. It's technically a "fantasy" novel and the target audience is not made for only Christians. I'm Pagan and I enjoyed the hell out of this. And the language is part of the character, therefore it's realistic. As to the generalization that "many Christians abhor this...," I can promise you that, living in the Bible Belt as I do, language is not a hang up. I hear more swearing from members of the Christian community than I do from any other. Besides, removing the language tends to ignore the character development. There is a reason why that character swears a lot and that's part of showing the change in that character. With all of them. I'm sorry, but you missed the boat on this one. Jake, leave it as is!
Because this is a Christian book, you may consider taking out the profanity. Yes, the language does make the characters more realistic and believeable, but it takes away from your plot. Many Christians abhor this to the extreme, and so it is the only thing they notice as they read; they completely miss the good aspects. In particular, you might also consider omitting the blasphemy. You could insert phrases such as, "he cursed/swore", or you could refer back to a conversation as being filled with profanity.
What a marvellous idea and how brave! A very controversial subject. I like it a lot .... If I had a hat, I'd take it off for you!
Good luck!

Mark, you're forgetting something....
Gideon...Bible...Company? Make sense now?
Leave it. Gideon is a great name and it's perfect for Him.

I really think this is a great idea for a story. I would only suggest one thing: There may be a method to your picking names, but I would only say that Jesus would especially know the names of Cyrus and Gideon - those are bible names and mean specific things. I think your character may think Cyrus is cynical, but it actually means "Warrior" Gideon is also used in the book of Judges as well as the name of a group that puts bibles in motels. I would suggest using the names, Bob or Joe. If Jesus' adventure back to Earth is not really meaningful, it would make more sense to use those names. I'm not sure he is spreading the good news, but if he is then Gideon would work. Just something to think about. Names are very hard to come by, but especially in spiritual or journy stories, they are very important. Just something to think about. Good luck and I enjoyed the story.
