Patchwork And So Forth
[Ed.Note] Prologue
Patchwork
This is [Ed.Note] my story about despite growing up in a very small and cloistered Ohio country town, I was able through sheer perseverance and willpower, evolve into an urban man with global experience that transcends race, religion, politics, and culture. [Ed.Note] From the small town to the Family of Mankind.
[Ed.Note] Expand on the theme of transcendence, experience, your outlook, what it means philosophically, the differences between small town v man of the world, etc.
This story, should, hopefully help readers appreciate those Americans who've evolved from humble [Ed.Note] beginnings and backgrounds to become a part of the every facet of society. We're complex beings whose struggles and tragedies mix to produce some very funny situations. We're not expected to be particularly creative or to have exceptional abilities, though somehow, pursuing our dreams to become something better than what we were before, often enough, produces remarkable and interesting people, typically for the better.
[Ed.Note] Expand on that theme here for a few paragraphs..................
I've reinvented myself at least seven times in my career. I began as an instructional technologist, became a technology marketer, magazine publisher for the American Broadcasting Companies, public relations and advertising professional, information technologist, and consultant to the federal government.
All the while, I have kept an active creative life, painting and writing. Patchwork is my own form of art and writing that juxtaposes descriptions, time, people, and places, that reflect how mine, and frequently most others, reflects and contemplates.
I communicate best through poetry and prose, and by exchanging sketches. This technique is a way to share a literal quilt, patchwork, and free-form of ideas and descriptions that constitute stories.
Because of my exposure to the works of artist and poet Kenneth Patchen long ago. Because he was determined to write, illustrate, and make his own books through sheer persistence and his outlook on life, he became part of my inspiration for writing Patchwork..
[Ed.Note] Talk a bit more about the philosophy of Patchwork, what it means to you, how it can and did guide you throughout your life, how it
shaped your world view, how its' a form of art, and what it might or could mean to the reader.
[Ed.Note] I would insert your references to your wife and daughter at the end but in this part, too, it would be appropriate.
