Archiebald MacGregor’s 500 year old quest has been to end the curse, originally cast upon his family in 16th century Scotland by an iniquitous being from another Universe - one that affects him, and his one time gentile parents, very differently.


Until he can successfully complete a series of tasks - only hinted at by cryptic clues - Angus and Morag have suffered bittersweet immortality by witnessing the death of their unusual looking, teenage son, as time and again, each incarnated version of the boy fails to conquer the curse. They live out their lives, together with an alien child, left behind by the curse, in their ancient, but now space faring and fantastical, ancestral castle which is operated day to day by an eccentric floral species.  C-Throo, integral to the curse that created him, struggles with the help of some bizarre citizens of the Universe, to realise his full potential in a quest to discover more about his evil father and the race to which he really belongs.

Perhaps the real stars are the bitter old lady Sadie Wallace, who thinks of everybody as imbeciles; an incredibly ugly child; there are flashbacks to the mental abuse she suffered at the hands of her parents.   She takes great pleasure in insulting her staff; the kindly matron of a children's home Mrs Hume; as common as muck.  Shona Clancy, a well to do news reporter whose wheelchair bound mother never fails to embarrass her at every turn, struggles to be accepted by the working class she grew up in, and is hot on the MacGregors tail.  Dolores Dingle; a Canadian born in England whom disaster follows, and touches everyone she encounters, insists on trying to sound English.  Michael McNeil, a bit of a ditz, who likes to moan, is always hard done by. The disgusting Jennyfer Sinclair; the notoriously bad hairdresser; whose bad skill is renowed throughout.   These are but to name ONLY a few and hence why this volume is an epic.  Try it ... you'll feel good.  I guarantee it.

 
Whilst striving for historical accuracy and to provide certain instructiveness in places, this work contains an unapologetic indulgence for fresh fantasy and adventure which delivers any educational value it may contain, with the greatest of ease.  It is unabashedly designed in defiance of those rules that seem to have evolved by the volition typically found in stories of time travel and space time continuums.  Lives change dramatically; unrecognisably, as Archiebald, and those that surround him, move between current day, 1934 and 1587 Scotland.   Unwittingly they change events in the past; transforming the essence, and in some cases, the very existence, of themselves and others, as the search for the first ancient, biblical artefact, but the pride of Scotland, is sought out.
