I'm sorry, I missed the "The second book of the Dark Blood Chronicles" in the summary so I started reading. I got through a few chapters before coming back and reading the summary, so I think I'll stop there instead of making a mess out of it. There was something that caught my eye though:
First chapter, third and fourth paragraphs:
"Alexis had spent almost every waking moment, scouring through the archives for any mention of Shillian. It had been three days since her self appointed quest to discover who Shillian was, yet so far she had turned up nothing.
Sighing, he leant back in the chair of his new room, given to him courtesy of Malik, the vampire who’d turned him less than a month ago now. Malik’s charitable nature seemed to know no bounds, as the moment Richard had been allowed to leave, he’d insisted that Richard stay with him."
-First the subject is Alexis (she) and then (he). Readers will start wondering if you forgot the 's' on 'he' and wrote 'his' instead of 'her'. Instead, 'Sighing, Richard leant back..' actually lets readers know about the change in subject.
That's all I can do until I read the first book. :)

Reminds me very much of the Underworld Series. It's intriguing to see where it goes, how the coalition reacts and how the plot and characters develop.
