Sheer Insanity: The Rants, Ravings, Musings, and Missives of a Crazy Comic
Sheer Insanity: No other words can more accurately describe Jay Griffin’s debut literary offering.
Even though Jay Griffin is a relatively obscure standup comic and freelance writer, his keen perception, acerbic wit, and sardonic sense of humor will not only entertain you, but will shock and confound you as well. Ever the subversive, Jay Griffin is most definitely not “politically correct”. In his own words: “No one has ever accused me of being politically correct and I’m too damn old to ... More

In his own words: “No one has ever accused me of being politically correct and I’m too damn old to start trying to be now.”
Jay’s sense of humor has been described as “absolutely dark, blunt, and rabid…completely 100% twisted” and has often been compared to the comedic genius of Ron White, Denis Leary, and Lewis Black, in addition to the late George Carlin and Bill Hicks…not a bad group to which to be compared indeed.
Sheer Insanity: The Rants, Ravings, Musings, and Missives of a Crazy Comic provides a glimpse into the inner workings of the mind of a standup comic who has an unslakable thirst for Kentucky bourbon—specifically Jim Beam—and too much free time on his hands. Jay muses on such things as: public restrooms; blind dating; Halloween pranks; marriage; politics; and the “truth” behind Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, and Santa Claus.
Some of Jay’s essays will bring to mind the voices of Andy Rooney, Dave Barry, and even the late Hunter S. Thompson, but this combination has resulted in a voice that is uniquely his—the voice of Sheer Insanity.
Jay Griffin was a staff writer for the now-defunct Seymour Times—an alternative newsweekly in which he wrote the “Static” column. He is currently a contributing writer for SIN Magazine Online for whom he serves as their political correspondent by writing a column called “Political Poison: The Rants and Ravings of a Political Junkie”.
Jay Griffin currently resides in his hometown of Lick Skillet, Indiana in an abandoned forge plant by the railroad tracks. He and his fiancée are rumored to be so impoverished they drew up their pre-nuptial agreement on the back of a food stamp. Less
