The title poem Slither Band of Color was the first poem I ever submitted to a contest; to my delight it came in 5th place and I received a certificate of achievement award, a small amount of money and a copy of the book it appeared in; this was in 1990. That's a long time back. Many of the poems I want to include in this collection were written in the 1980s. That's a long time back. Many of the poems I want to include in this collection were written in the 1980s. That's even further back, but I have long wanted to compile them into book form, so this is that collection. I hope they will be  enjoyable to the reader, and indeed if you find it a rainy day and a slow day, and need something to entertain you, I will be delighted if it is Slither Band of Color that ends up giving some brightness to an otherwise dull day.  Less
