A young woman sits in front of her laptop, listening to the sound of the radio. It was playing quietly in the background. Her fiance had gone out for the day, so she had plenty of time to work on a new story. She had just finished a previous short story, and was eager to write another. With very little electric left on the meter, she was determind to write the beginning opening paragraphs before walking to the local shop for more electric and gas.
Unable to get any ideas, she goes out for a walk and takes her camera with her. She had hoped that she will find a piece of inspiration along the way to the shop and back.
When she returns home, she starts writing almost immediately. Then her father knocks on the door.
She lets him in and he watches the news.
The news people tells the world of a coming storm. A storm of more than thunder, lightening or rain. They speak of a huge rock heading towards the earth's atmosphere and the world will end. She rolled her eyes, there was always something that was going to kill them all. She felt sick.
It wasn't long until she had written two thousand words. Feeling pleased with herself, she sends her story to a publisher, along with a story proposal. She re-checks her feedback and saw that loads of people had already seen it. The afternoon came, and the clouds gathered. The thunder starts, accompanied with the lightening. There were two storms that night. Her storm of sucess with her story, and the terrible weather.
Her back ached, so she settled a cushion behind her back. Suddenly the lights go out. There was plenty of electric which only meant one thing. It was a power cut. She hoped that there was enough battery power to continue with her work until the electric came back.
