Set in Portland, Oregon Jake Mitchell is born in the backseat of an Acura in 1990. He is never cleared by the a hospital, never given a birth certificate, and never entered into the national social security system. instead, he is hidden by his parents through his younger years. neglected, starved, beaten, and verbally broken down, Jake leads a much different life than just about any child out there. He spends most of his toddler years trying to avoid and watch out for his ruthless mother. He becomes very resourceful, and at an already fragile age, he is forced to take care of himself when his mother rather he just jumped in front of a bus, but at the same time she will not let him go for fear of no control over anything.
Using his smarts, whits and instincts, Jake manages to make it to the age of six, where the climax of his childhood stint with his parents comes forth. Jake sees something he was never meant to see, and for the fear of what his mother might do to him, Jake is forced to run away from home. being as cooped up as he has been his whole life, as far as Jake new he had never been more than a few blocks away from his house in his life. but now he has the choice to go as far he wants, to see everything he has never seen his whole life lay ahead of him, and the first thing he experiences is a road that seems to just never end, as if it goes on forever. a road of endless miles.
just when he thinks he is going to be lost out in the city for the rest of his life, Jake is picked by a man he has never seen before, but who claims to be his uncle. although his uncle is kind to Jake and takes care of him as one of his own sons, not all is what it seems, and Jake is forced to work for his uncles business, and its a DIRTY business. Due to Jakes unique situation involving his identity, Jake soon becomes a master thief, and robbing and stealing for his uncle become Normal routine for him.
But one very rainy night in downtown Portland, when everything seemed normal and rutine, Jake meets and saves the life strange young girl named Angie. its then that he soon begins traveling that road again, still in search of the final destination to the endless miles. Less
