The High School Writing Challenge
High school is a prime setting for all kinds of fiction—YA, literary, horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. Some of major classics of these genres all take place in the halls of different high schools around the world. Why is this? Well, a lot goes on in these formative years. Children begin the long and slow process into becoming adults, a lot of “firsts” occur, romances blossom and die, and people struggle to pass calculus quizzes.

GIVE FEEDBACK
Check my story "The Mrs. is HER" and leave your feedback, it's appreciated. I fixed the punctuation errors and if there is anything else wrong, let me know.
Fitting in just 300 words into a short story is much harder then I thought it would be :/ I almost cried when I was writing mine, and found it hard not to keep going aha
Does anyone know if you have to write prose?
I "accidentally" wrote a poem.
Anyone else know that feeling? When your words just want to rhyme :-)

Really? I've looked through a few pieces and found lots to relate to, by those at high school still as well as those not.
WEbook has given us a broad horizon for entries in this challenge. I mean, unless there really ARE vegetarian vampires lurking around the high school halls 'today', that weren't there when I was going through the system, I'd say pretty much anything's doable... with a little imagination.

Honestly, I'm just saying... I don't think most of you will really get this challenge. You're all older and not dealing with high school now. I looked through some pieces and I didn't find anything relatable at all. :P
The field was a disaster. Muddy, wet and slippery. Practice hadn't prepared Mike for anything like this. It was pandemoneum on the field. Everyone slipping, falling and just plainly impossible to move, without taking a spill to the ground.
" What a night for a Homecoming, need to win, Championship Berth, do or die situation for the Bulldogs." What a muddy disaster the field was. Even the Cheerleaders were slipping and falling, as they tried to do their routines. What a nightmare !
Speaking of nightmare, the bulldogs were down 10-7 at the half, as if it weren't bad enough two starters were now out due to ankle sprains. "What next", Mike thought, "what next".
The locker room was buzzing with blame, anger at the situation, frustration with the weather and stragety planning for the second half. The Cheerleaders were cheering their mighty, muddy, warriors on , as they themselves were changing uniforms and planning second half strategy.
"How can we help", the girls thought ? What can we do to lift our boys up and win this game ? Is it ever going to stop raining ? " We need a miracle", Deanie said, " a miracle".
Jessica yelled out, "what about a giant umbrella, I'm soaked"
Everybody burst out laughing, as the statement seemed to interrupt the seriousness and tension of the Homecoming Game, which needed desperately to be won.
The half time festivities had to go on. Rain or no rain. Mud or no mud. The festivities had to go on, winning or losing, Homecoming was Homecoming, after all, the King and Queen had to be crowned and their Court had to be announced. "Yeah," mike thought, like she said, " how about a giant umbrella "? As the Captain of the team, Mike was busy readying himself for the next half.
