The In-Between Year is a venture into the mind and experiences of a quarter-aged girl with mixed perceptions about life in general and what to do about it. In short, a comedy.
As she finds herself (literally) in-between college and her uncertain future, she tries to find herself (figuratively) and who she wants to become. From a demanding work schedule and quirky professors to scandelously commonplace adventures with friends and a string of mortifyingly awkward (and maybe just a bit perfect) first dates, she has more than enough to sort through--but can she make it through the year and reach the other side all the more wise, fulfilled, and self-aware (or perhaps merely sane)? This story is more than your run-of-the-mill coming-of-age tale at the refreshingly procrastinatory age of 22 (is "procrastinatory" even a word? No, I don't suppose it is but I'll look it up...later); it is a tribute to the human experience, encapsulating the very meaning of life itself (which has been re-calculated to yield a more accurate approximation of 42.5971). Admittedly, it contains some non-fiction entwined with, well, fiction--but we needn't to go into specifics as to which is which (for the sake of avoiding inconsistencies that inevitably arise when memory, or lack thereof, is depended upon. And to avoid law suits, of course).
...Oh, and did I mention that this self-actualization business takes place all within the greater Miami area?
