The Legend of Butailor: Elemental Quest
Legends speak of a sword that controls the elements of nature: earth, air, water, fire, ice and lightning. The name of this fabled blade is Butailor and it was used by a lone lad by the name of Lyon Ironheart who freed the land of Grandoris of the Dark Lord Vladimir. Prophets also spoke of the return of Vladimir who would one day return to shroud the peaceful world of Grandoris in eternal darkness and transform it into a hellish nightmare. This tale was told to young Brandon Jugen by his mother ever night and the boy one day vowed to find this legendary blade to prove the world such an item exists for the sole purpose of bragging. Of course this somewhat selfish dream turns into a perilous journey for the child when he finds Butailor and ends up taking up the responsibility of sealing Vladimir away once again. However Brandon's not alone for his allies Mahari the Fairy, Alice Hunlian the Mage and Mishiguu the Esper pledge to aid him in his journeys. With a rose pedal slinging fairy, a hard working apprentice mage and a samurai spirit at his side Brandon is bound to succeed in his quest to protect Princess Rachel, a girl of royal descent whom he quickly forms an everlasting bond with, from the power hungry tyrant Vladimir D. Zulos.

In 1950 in the land of Grandoris there lived a dark lord named Vladimir D. Zulos. He ruled with an iron fist and nearly killed off the Grandorians by releasing dragons. However when all hope seemed lost a lone boy wielding nothing more than a sword appeared. His name was Lyon Ironheart and he challenged the Dark Lord Vladimir. The battle was long and hard but Lyon emerged victorious by sealing the dark lord in his sword, Butailor, the blade of the elements. Afterward he was crowned King of Grandoris and there was peace and tranquility...for awhile.
For fifty years all was well until one night the seal on Vladimir started to weaken. King Lyon was informed of this and went to investigate the Elemental Sanctuary where the dark lord was sealed away. Upon entering the Elemental Sanctuary King Lyon witnessed Vladimir escape from his prison. Once he was free Vladimir summoned dark creatures to his side to kill King Lyon. Outnumbered and unarmed King Lyon was killed and Vladimir ruled Grandoris once more. Ever since the world of Grandoris has been shrouded in darkness.
Fifty years later in the year 2000 in the world of Xian, also known as Earth, a 10 year old boy named Brandon Jugen heard the story about King Lyon and Butailor from his mother, Cynthia Jugen. Upon hearing the story he set out into the world to prove that Butailor exists with nothing more than a lantern, an ax and his father's walking stick. Once on the open sea young Brandon was ambushed by a sea serpent. However a mysterious force split open the sea and sent the youngster into the world of Grandoris. Once there Brandon starts his journey to find Butailor.
