The Name Game
Naming characters and places can be, for some, the hardest thing to do in writing. I was just curious and wanted to know what everyone's favorite real name or made-up character name is! Please feel free to include what name you love and why. Thank you!

Liilia or Darrina are my choices for most beautiful names - I am very partial to Finnish or Russian sounding names especially for female characters on my writings, and these are two of my favorite names!
Lacey Evette....goregous name or Yvette instead of evette....and whoever made the rhiannon comment is amazing...i love my middle name!
Danae is a character name I never say the same way twice. Is it Deny, Dahnay, Donny? Love it!
I love the name Reema Patel. 'Cuz it sounds like doing dirty things to a person of Southwest Asian descent.

I am writing a book, possibly to be broken down into a couple of series. One name I made up, Leshka. My other characters have the usual known names like Sarah (my daughters name), Vanessa (a friend), but my two main characters Bethany (Cherokee name: Pekani) and Caleb (Cherokee name: Kalepa) or what enthralls me more. The name Caleb fits so well with his character in the book, meaning: dog, loyal, faithful and brave. Bethany means consecrated to God or God's disciple. She is more than what meets the eye to all involved with her. Each characters name on these pages has a meaning that fits who or what they are.
I am writing a series of four books about four sisters - Wren, Talearah, Pip and Arc. Wren is an Earth Spirit so I gave her the name of a bird, Talearah is a Wind/Air Spirit who controls stroms etc, I made up her name and think it sounds a bit like a whirlwind. Pip is a Water Spirit - You can get pippies from the sea and Arc is a Fire Spirit, I was about when my husband was welding one night and he was using an 'Arc' welder and I thought that would make an awsome name for a real fiesty female character.
In the 3rd grade i put the 1st 5 letters of the alphabet and i loved it....Abcde (pronounced abcede)

Ever since I read TA Barron's The Great Tree of Avalon series and The Lost Years of Merlin, I have loved the name Rhiannon. I like Rhia as a shortening, but Rhiannon is so very lovely. I think of softness and the forest and bare feet avoiding stepping upon tender leaves, and streams running through the woods.
Of course, Mr Barron's work is probably to blame these imaginings, but I love it all the same.
I also really like angelic names, but they all seem to end in -iel. Either way, I like the name Azrael.
I also think Bellatrix is a great name, but I can't use it in either writing or naming my children because of the Rowling character Bellatrix Lestrange.
Well, then...

I once met a girl named Arianna. I love how it's easy to say and easy to read. I've used it several stories since then.
I am writing a series about a place called Alora Falls (Alora is actually my oldest daughter's name and I love it!) and my main characters are 4 sisters and I had so much fun naming them:
Oakleigh Francesca
Aspen Netalia
Nevada Star
Mona Joley

Good idea! I'll be back to write a few chapters in this on my favorite names.
i like the name ailsa craig ,its the name of a small scottish island ,it makes me think of the sea and the wildnes of scotland ,also its made out of granite one of the worlds stongest rocks ,so it is beauty ,wildness and strength .
The most beautiful name I can think of would definitly be
Guinevere. It sounds so elegent, like it could be the name of someone important.

I am writing my second book right now. The names of my main characters are...
Sophia Natalie (as lie, not lee) Amora and David Michael Tristian. Although, for her, I have been going back and forth between what I just gave you and Natalie Sophia Amora.
