I am still in love with you

And so I must leave you.

With any luck

I’ll forget your face

The sensuous, inviting smile,

Shallow, lovely, haunting cheeks,

Eyes taking me in as I take them,

The brows rising

In arches yearning,

“Are you pleased?”

Oh, my love, Always.

Could I be less?

The few seconds of connection

Steal so suddenly,

Savored so desperately.

You remove your glance

Too quickly. I am left with

A tiny arrow in me.

I leave it there

Until it dissolves, someday,

With all the others.

Returning to remember them

Each time as they become dull.

Will they ever be gone?

When I am, will I forget

The painful points

Of half platonic treats

And wonder how you are?

Still alive?

In the same place?

A grandmother yet?

A wife and lover?

Will I ever see you again

To catch more tiny arrows?

Or touch your brows and cheeks

And kiss your smile?
