Wait, Don't Ditch Him Yet! He Might Make a Good Husband!
This is an article that I wrote for my local, small town Georgia, newspaper back in 2001 when I was newly married (by the way, it never got published). I list ten qualities that women should look for in a man and go on to write that if a man they know has these ten qualities then she should give him a second look, give him a chance.
I almost missed out on marrying my husband by overlooking these most excellent ten qualiites of his. I was used to being with the life of the party type guys ... More

I almost missed out on marrying my husband by overlooking these most excellent ten qualiites of his. I was used to being with the life of the party type guys, the kind who were lots of fun, but weren't able to deliver in the mature relationship department - you know, valid driver's license optional. After my second date with my now husband I gave him his walking papers, too dull, doesn't drink, talks about work too much. I came to my senses before someone else snatched him up (literally and figuratively) and gave him a third date. It was on that date that I knew he was a keeper and we have been together ever since.
I wrote this article so that other women who find themselves consistently attracted to the wrong guy will be able to reprogram themselves and begin to use a different criteria to use when deciding if a guy is date worthy or not.
Now I look back and realize that, hey, sure he talked about work a lot, because he is motivated by his career, he enjoys it, and it's a large part of his life; and so he doesn' t drink - in the end this is actually excellent for me as I discovered I married a permanent designated driver, not a bad thing. :-) Less
