Religious Plagiarism
Say whatever you have in your brain about religion. Say anything that bothers you, say anything that is cliche' from other, older religions. Don't stop submitting your voice to this project until we all have heard what everyone really thinks about religion in general. Can you speak in complete honesty? Honesty is not entirely a matter of opinion. Telling the whole truth as it was presented at the time will make the most sense to anyone reading. Explain what's the same; explain what's different a

Indeed, a great point and it's interesting you examine the clear parallels between Egyptian creeds and early Christian ethos...I'm fascinated by the points and am sceptical of Horus' actual influence, even the early attempts of early Egyptian monotheists like Artan...[who was apparently scrubbed from history...]....But of course your point below about religion adapting to the times is crucial and, indeed, very valid...Christianity was seen, at one time, as a revolutionary and intellectuallizing force[which possibly owes a lot to Artan's legacy], so I was wondering if you were interested in Oannes and the pagan gods[particularly Mithras and Solenvictus?]...
Look, I hate to break it you 'silhouett' but seeing as how this story predates the story of Jesus by thousands of years, Jesus appears to simply be a facsimile of Horus (At least, his story is the not the first to use the sun's movement to coincide with an extraordinary character's life.
Now, granted, the Egyptians updated their story as their understanding of the sun changed but that still would not make them the only ones to rewrite the whole story. The Bible does this with the new testament. Religion is always trying to get with the times. One would have to think that God would have no need in keeping up with human trends so why do we trade Joseph and his Technicolor TV for Jesus and the twelve dwarfs? It cheapens a belief to have to go back and rewrite it. Why didn't god make the old testament correct so that they wouldn't have had to make a sequel with a completely new cast. Is religion expected to be taken seriously? It is just as feasible as a reality TV show. Religion is a bunch of people forced to spend every Sunday Indoors growing hemorrhoids from sitting still on wooden pews, getting only a thin-ass cookie and a thimble of wine to fill you up. Obviously, the idea is to figuratively be filling yourself with the Sacred blood and body of the one whom everyone arrogantly assumed was going to use his death to absorb an evil, tantalizing (invisible) force that we were "conveniently" all born with. I'm referring to Jesus and sin of course. How convenient that we were born into sin (because of Eve in the garden I had come to understand) so that there could be someone to take exactly that evil force right the hell away. Yay! We made up an illness and a cure too!

Hours is said to have common ground in such things as resurrection, twelve followers. How ever his story changes.
He [Horus] is the sun, anthropomorphized, and his life is a series of allegorical myths involving the sun's movement in the sky.Early Egyptian mythology records Horus was a sun god, not the sun. In fact, only Horus' right eye symbolized the sun while his left eye typified the moon. It can also be posited that Horus' name did not represent the sun's movement through the sky but rather was a name reflecting Horus' nature. The names and assimilations supposedly involving Horus are as numerous as the precession of Zodiacal constellations themselves. In brief, the names and characteristics of the sun god Horus can be seen changing every time a preceding story is found to be false or contradictory by the cavalcade of pagan societies or leaders that followed. Over protracted periods, the sun god Horus is embellished by a plethora of names—each name representing varying characteristics. Such names include: Horus, Harmerty, Har-Si-Ese, Heru, Heru-ur, Heru-khuti, Harsiesis, Har-Wer, Osiris, Ra, Atum, Atum-Ra, Ra Herakhty, Neferhor, Nekheny, Mekhenty-er-irty, Khenty-er-irty, Har-Behedti, Ihy, Bebti, Heru-sema-tawy and many others. Again, each and every one of these names moves from one myth to another—all supposedly the same god, but different gods, with different traits. Confused? No doubt. Given the ever-changing names and traits of Horus, it is not difficult to imagine how one can pick and choose whatever they want concerning this sun god or any other god. And Zeitgeist wants to denigrate Christianity for borrowing from a procession of thought. But the ‘facts’ herein do not bear this out.
