It was a fair, breezy yet harmless day so it seemed, when about half-passed ten I set out for my journey to seek out new knowledge for myself and for my future. It was truly a wonderful day to travel. It was not too hot nor too cold in the atmosphere and the climate was just right. Moreover, the family of blue jays looked rather comfortable perched in their nest in the big oak tree that sits in the front of my open spaced property. Even more so, their whistling tune brought cheer to my day. I could not resist the chime of it, so I stopped and listened for a few moments. Doing just that brought more and more brightness and warmth to my spirits. With the ground being completely covered with snow, it was difficult to resist the over all beauty of that is well. The snow itself was somewhat soft and powdery much like powdered and cubed sugar all rolled into one. It was topped with the texture of blossom pedals and small twigs from the branches of the trees that patched my yard. It was much like walking on a big gorgeous blanket, which could be spread over a massive mountain range. After about 5 minutes of enjoying such lovely music and my surroundings, I set out along my path with nothing to bother me. Well at least that is what I thought at this point and time. As I trotted further and further away from home, I came across the smell of smoke and rain in the air. It is the kind of smell that you would be proud to set your senses on in the morning; however, the most peculiar thing is that the sky did not seem to show any signs of rain, only snow. Even more so, it carried a rather odd pigment of color that consisted of a grayish blackish shade. The road that I step on seemed long and challenging, it is just what I need to gain ease for my mind. After a good two hours or so of walking and sweating, I saw a faint image or outline of a small and collected village. “It did not seem to far ahead,” I thought to myself as I moved closer and closer to it. Once I arrived there, I noticed some guards outside the village gate. The gate alone looked steady and strong; it was made of tree trunks and was bound with hemp. I stood still for a moment to catch my breathe and have a drink from my canteen that was attached to my hip. Once I approached the guards that were standing by the gate, I asked with such generosity… “Hello my good fellow, I was hoping to enter to get some rest and maybe purchase some weapons, medicine and a bite to eat if it’s possible?” “Well you look tired so of course… come on in.” “OPEN THE GATES” the guard on the left shouted out. At the instant, I stepped back; and slowly the gates cleared a path for me to enter. As I walked into the small and somewhat lifeless village, I noticed that the buildings where old, and some looked like they were starting to develop signs of rot and mold. Yet not to mention some of the buildings had patches of moss growing on the outside of them. It had also appeared to me that the roof of each house, tavern, and inn was constructed of cheat wood. I traveled around the place with such curiosity, I felt like I had just entered a ghost town. Very few people were outside. The place itself had a descent amount of shops to get equipment for my travels. There was a well for people to get water and a graveyard for past loved ones. Overall, it was perfect and quiet at the time being. I checked myself in at the closest inn available and laid my weary head to rest. Not even 5 minutes after I laid down my eyes became quite heavy and slowly sealed shut. That following morning I slowly pried my eyes open and let out a yawn, reassuring myself that I got a great amount of sleep. I pulled the covers from atop of me and went to the shower to clean up. It had just turned 7 o’clock in the morning as I finished shaving. I attempted to get my clothes on when I heard a knock on the door. “HOUSE KEEPING” … “HOUSE KEEPING OPEN UP” shouted an unfamiliar voice coming from outside of the room. With my towel wrapped around my waist, I replied, “Please… give me a few moments to get dressed.” At that instant the unknown person just outside replied back…” very well sir… just come to the front desk when you have yourself situated.” Will do my kind lad I said as I stepped towards the bed were I had laid out my garments out neatly. With curiosity racing through my head, I stood still for a split second trying to imagine what the man could have wanted from a traveler like me. I did not want to keep anyone waiting too long. Therefore, I quickly dressed myself and headed down to the front lobby to settle whatever means this door attendant wanted to discuss with me. With my nap sack resting on my right shoulder and my thoughts collected for my quest I approached the front desk. Standing in front of me stood a tall man dressed in semi tattered clothing and he had a descent weight to him, probably middle aged I thought to myself as he attempted to speak. “I see you are ready for your day sir.” “Oh please call me Mr. Wikler and yes I am quite situated for my day… my quest at that rather.” Ah I see Mr. Wikler I have a message for you.” Oh really from whom might I ask?” “Well that is the question now is it?” “It seems that it does not say from who im just a front desk clerk delivering a message.” Very well sir and again thank you, for I enjoyed my say.” “Good day to you.” “And to you my kind fellow.” I bid the man a fond farewell as I approached the door to exit the inn. I stood outside once more and the first thing I noticed was that the weather patterns had changed quite drastically. There was not a storm cloud or any signs of nasty weather anywhere in the blue sunny sky that cover me. However, there was not a soul outside, any children at play no nothing. “Maybe this really is a ghost town and maybe im just not realizing it yet.” I said to myself as I wandered around the premises. Then I seen a rare thing that just so happened to catch my eye. There was a man in the window of a weapon and herbal shop and it appeared to me that he had just opened up. I felt a little hesitant to approach the building all for the simple fact that I was an outsider and that the man in the window looked at me with such dislike and disapproval. Then I asked myself, “Why would this man … this… stranger be looking at me in a way that seemed so judgmental?” “I don’t understand it one bit.” I came to my senses and took a deep breathe then took step for step until I stumbled upon the entrance of the shop. I entered with a skeptical feeling that just so happened to be passing through my body like an adrenaline rush. The man from the window was now standing behind the back desk with the same look on his face. There were many glamorous and rare items in the store from what it seemed like. There were items there that looked like it would keep me from dangerous foe. “Hello sir can I help you with anything?” “Why yes my lad.” “Might I ask why you seem to be looking at me with such dislike?” “Oh was I looking at you in a rude fashion?” I must apologize; we are not used to having an outsider around these parts.” “Well that’s quite understandable.” “I’m just passing through and I was just stopping by to get a few items from you for my journey.” Why yes but of course what seems to be of interest?” “Well I will take four dragon daggers, 4 Elvin long swords 50 healing herbs, one shield and some chest armor please.” “Very well my kind fellow that will be four thousand shillings.” Here you are my friend and please call me Mr. Wikler.” Why yes that would be more proper now wouldn’t it?” here are your items and please be safe out there I hear that some roads can be quite frightening.” I will be as careful as I can be and good day to you.” Farewell Wikler.” I approached the door and exited the building with the reassuring feeling of security. It was now about nine am and I realized I must be getting on my way. I now found myself standing face to face with the tree trunk gate once more. “Excuse me guards, I wish to exit.” Very well sir.” “OPEN THE GATES.” The guard shouted one again. Sure enough, the gate had opened. Upon from leaving the small town I had noticed a slim path to my right… one that I did not noticed before so I took it. It was neither too narrow nor too wide, but good enough for a steady change of sensory. I could hear birds chirping and I felt a gentle and peaceful breeze blowing through the tree branches and my hair. Leaves covered the ground but I could still notice the road ahead of me. As I put on foot in front of the other I reassure myself that im just on step closer to finding out who I really am and what my true purpose is in this life I posses. As for now, I must focus on the here and now and not let my mind wander off into far distances of the future. It was not until long that I realized that I had been walking for about five hours and it was just about noon, so I stopped to take a quick look around the area. I thought to myself that this would be a delighted place to set up camp and so I did. I grabbed my nap sack, pulled out a tarp like item, and scanned the area for a couple of sticks so I could prop up the tarp for a tent. As I was preparing my sleeping arrangements, I heard a bit of rattling in some bushes just ten feet away, so I stopped for just a moment to find out what was making the entire ruckus. I grabbed one of my dragon daggers from the holster that was around my waist and readied myself for whatever was behind the bushes. At that moment a lizard had scurried away and I found no reason to use the dagger so I put it back in its holster and continued piecing together the tent. After the tent was completed, I took a little walk to find some wood and twigs for a small fire. I must have been gone from camp for at least thirty minutes when I saw a deer just about twenty feet from where I was standing. I pulled my dagger out once more and hurled it as hard and fast as I could. I had hit the deer in the neck, it stood still for a second or two then it hit the ground with a thud. After that, I pulled the knife from its throat and put it away once again. There was blood seeping out of the wound as I dragged it back to the camp along with the sticks that were nestled under my right arm. In addition, it was from there that I started a fire and cooked my supper. As I enjoyed my food, I stopped to admire my surroundings. There were trees everywhere, the ground had been covered with leaves and there were all sorts of different colors, red, orange, green and yellow, some of them even had tiny little brown spots on them. I could hear the sound of rushing water echoing in the air. The wind let out the gentlest breeze and I felt very relaxed listening to all the noises of nature that swarmed me. I did not however hear any birds chirping and there was no sign of any other animals in the area other then the deer that I killed earlier. As dawn slowly creped up I found that this was a start of a wonderful and pleasant evening. After I had finished eating, I took out a pipe from my bag and stuffed it with very fine tobacco and from there I grabbed a small twig, stuck the end of it in the fire and lit my pipe. “This is truly a beautiful evening.” I said to myself as I stretched out my legs and looked up at the stars in amazement. I could not have felt more comfortable. Then…suddenly as I was relaxing, I felt my eyes slowly rolling into the back of my head. My hands started to shake as if I had shot my nerves, and my head itself shook from side to side as if I was trying to shake away a bad image in my brain. I then began to wittiness-blurred visions in my mind. I could not make out much except a faint view of a man standing on a mountainside with a sword in one hand that in which rose in the air as if he was declaring a victory of some sort, then that was it the visions vanished from my mind and I feel asleep right after. The next morning I awoke around seven im the morning and the only that was on my mind was what had happened to me last night. Well I guess I have no choice then to figure this out myself. Less
