OVERVIEW

THIS CHALLENGE IS CLOSED. THE WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON THE BLOG MONDAY, MAY 3rd!

This is an important step in the writing process because it forces you to decide what your book is going to be about at its core (this may seem obvious, but many people start cranking out pages without hammering this down first).

The book idea can be something you've been working on for a while, or it can also be something you made up on the spot. The most important element in this challenge is to make people want to read more!

Some helpful hints from our PageToFame FAQ:

"A good summary will give readers just enough information about your book idea to get them excited about reading the whole thing. It should be brief, clear, well-written, and should show (rather than tell) readers that your book idea is unique and interesting. Leave readers with questions that can only be answered by reading your book."

You can also go here to see some great examples: http://www.webook.com/landing/PagetoFame-Short-Summary

THE PRIZES: Because this challenge ties into PageToFame so well, the WEbook editorial staff will pick the top 100 summaries and award them a 25% discount to PageToFame. We'll also pick 5 summaries that we can't wait to see more of and award the authors a free submission.

The deadline to submit is April, 30th, at 4 pm EST.

Note #1: WEbook does not take into account the user ratings when deciding who will win the challenge. We read each submission carefully, and decide the winners based on our own judgment.

Note #2: There is sometimes a word count discrepancy between MS Word and WEbook's word count editor, causing authors' paragraph's to appear to go a few words over the limit. Don't worry about this! We are aware of the issue and a few extra words will not affect our consideration of your writing.
