OVERVIEW

THIS PROJECT IS NOW CLOSED, WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON MONDAY, MAY  17TH!

The last challenge was to write a short summary of a novel: give the basic premise, introduce some characters, set the stage. Now, we're heading in the other direction, to the end.

In 100 words or less, write the end of a novel. It can be a made up novel, a partially completed novel, or a finished, polished manuscript. The key here is to make the ending interesting on its own. This is not easy (that's why it's called a challenge). You need to offer a sense of resolution, but also leave room for more things to happen off the page.

Avoid generic endings like "Bob pulled himself up and walked into sunset, free at last." Be as specific as possible! A unique story comes with a unique ending, too.

The 100 words does not need to be the word-for-word end of your novel (i.e. you can summarize). This is probably the better approach, because you need to give the reader at least some sense of what occurred before the final scene.

As usual, the WEbook editorial staff will pick our 3 favorite ending and award the authors free entry to PageToFame.

The deadline to submit is May, 14th, at 4 pm EST.

Note #1: WEbook does not take into account the user ratings when deciding who will win the challenge. We read each submission carefully, and decide the winners based on our own judgment.

Note #2: There is sometimes a word count discrepancy between MS Word and WEbook's word count editor, causing authors' paragraph's to appear to go a few words over the limit. Don't worry about this! We are aware of the issue and a few extra words will not affect our consideration of your writing.

Note #3: Only one submission per person, please (you can, however, revise up until the deadline).
